Maison de la Normandie et de la Manche is celebrating the Caen Millennium in its shop windows.
Caen is first mentioned in texts dating back to 1025. To celebrate this millennium, the city of Caen has put together a programme of exceptional events throughout the year. With over 250 events, the year will be rich and festive! Here’s a selection of the main events you won’t want to miss:
March 20-22: Inauguration of the Millennium at the Château de Caen
March 21-28: History Days
May 9: The Operatic Parade
June 27-29: Maritime Weekend, from Caen to the sea
September 19-21: Aquanauts, aquatic show in the Bassin Saint-Pierre
December: Digital art trail in the city to close the Millennium Festival
We invite you to come and discover the windows showing Caen through the ages and highlighting these events as well as the history of the millennium.
Many thanks to the team from the city of Caen organising the Millennium, the Caen tourist office and to the Musée de Normandie for their help in creating these displays.
