Fête de la Musique is celebrated across France, each year on the 21 June to mark the beginning of summer in style! It was initiated by Jack Lang, the French Minister of Culture, in 1982 and has become an international event, celebrated in over 100 countries around the world.
It is open to everyone, regardless of age, background, or musical style. Musicians of all levels and genres participate. One of the defining characteristics of the Fête de la Musique is that it takes place in public spaces—streets, parks, town squares, and other open areas. The emphasis is on participation, making it a very inclusive, community event.
15 bands from Jersey and Normandy will play in the streets of St Helier from 12pm to 5pm starting with a musical parade from West Centre to the Cider Press on King Street.
Find the full performance programme here: https://bit.ly/3RrzPTy and join us in celebrating Fête de la Musique for the very first time here in Jersey on Saturday 22 June!
This year’s events are brought to you by l’Alliance Française de Jersey, ArtHouse Jersey, Jersey Opera House and Maison de la Normandie et de la Manche in partnership with the Creative Island Partnership and with the support of Département de la Manche, Bruno’s Bakery and the Royal Yacht.

Cultural institutions from around the Island are joining forces to bring us a step closer to our neighbours as a ‘warm-up’ to the 2024 Paris Olympics. Focused around 2 annual public French cultural events, Fête de la Musique and Bastille Day, the 2024 French season will offer free cultural activities for the whole family.
